We had plans for a great week of activities. Originally, we were planning a 5K/15K Run/Walk at Calverton and then a series of Hikes in Manorville on this weekend April 18/19 and then the Earth Day 5K at Indian Island for the North Fork Environmental Council on April 26. We were hoping to do some trail runs and hikes during the week. All to celebrate Earth Day and to kick off our new trails organization. When we can get past this emergency, we will re open as the Peconic Series with live events all over Long Island.
But what about now? Peconic Pathfinders is intended to be a community organization. So how can we help our communities.
Stay at home doesn’t mean staying inside. Its important to get outside, exercise and enjoy the outdoors. Most parks are still open. People are running, hiking, walking down the road or at parks with their families. But keep your distance from others and practice Social Distancing. We hope you will join us in the Stay Strong Virtual Events listed below.
With businesses closed families are struggling. We are supporting food banks to help families in need. Our events will support Island Harvest that provides food packages to our local food pantries and mobile food distribution points regularly on Long Island and Feeding America, the organization behind Island Harvest and Food Distribution organizations Nationally.
We are looking for other charities that are struggling during these hard times. Please refer us. 100% of registration will go to the charity. LIRunning.com Event Management.

50 years ago, a group of environmental organizers was one week out, just like us, and they had no idea whether Earth Day 1970 was going to make a difference. We're all here because it did. Earth Day proved that huge improvements are possible when we come together to say that everyone deserves a better planet.
We'll be separated on the 22nd, but we can come together on earthday.org. The site will have twenty-four hours of speakers, activities, and actions. It's for everyone, of any age, in any part of the world with an internet connection.
