In 1960 Dr. Murphy led a successful citizen initiative to establish the area as the first major natural park in the Suffolk County Park system. This April we dedicate our Earth Hikes to Dr. Robert Cushman Murphy with guided hikes in and through the Robert Cushman Murphy County Park.  April is Earth Month! Hikes, Runs, Events Hikes and Runs every weekend!   Walk, Walk/Run, Run Programs with Riverhead Recreation... Registration for Spring Programs will be open March 22. programs start in April 20th. Register online at Riverhead Parks & Recreation (riverheadrecreation.net)   Join Peconic Pathfinders for free. and receive our newsletter/blog Every Sunday we will hike a different trail in the Robert Cushman Murphy County Park.     Learn More Easter Sunday Earth Hike March 31, 1:00 PM At Calverton Veterans Memorial Park At the Start Here Sign Each Sunday will meet at a different location TBA at 9:00am.   Every Day is Earth Day for Peconic Pathfinders, but we hope you will join us on our Sunday Earth Hikes. This Easter Sunday hike will explore the link between the Veterans Park in Calverton, (Riverhead Recreation), Preston Ponds (NY DEC), and Robert Cushman Murphy County Park. Every Sunday in April a different hike to Robert Cushman Murphy Park! Meeting places will be announced. Sunday Hikes will show you a different loop each week, from a different starting point. Each hike will be about 5-6 miles. The last hike will be a long hike connecting these 4 loops.
