Spring Training at Belmont Lake State Park
The Long Island Groundhogs have announced an early spring! They lied!

With a deep freeze coming up for this weekend, we expect a lot of ice on the Belmont Lake Loop this Sunday. We're not canceling just yet. Just not loving it!

Island Running announces Spring Training at Belmont Park 9am every Sunday in February at Belmont Park. Open to Non Members!
Island Running is continuing our plans to create new races that will have registration fees greatly reduced for our members. We are planning four to eight membership races in 2016!
Membership fee's will help provide the seed money needed to fund these races. Races are being planned throughout Long Island's Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Join Island Running Join as an Individual Member or as a Family.
Spring Has Sprung 5K   Island Running
March 20! First day of Spring.
Competitive 5K 9:00        Open 5K 10:00
Spring Has Sprung 5K at Belmont Lake State Park will have a competitive 5K at 9:00 AM and a non competitive race at 10:00. All Members are guaranteed a Tee Shirt and can register at the club discount.

Spring Has Sprung 5K Competitive 5K Run will start at 9:00 AM. It will be a two lap race. The minimum time for this event will be 30:00 to avoid lapping. $25 Non Member. $15 Member includes tee shirt for all pre registered. First come first served on Day of Race.  We will try to anticipate enough shirts for everyone. Members will get priority. Awards will be 5 Year age groups.

Spring Has Sprung 5K Open Run/Walk will start at 10:00 If you can't run a 10 minute pace, you must run this race. $20 fee, $15 for Members. Pre Registered Members will receive a tee shirt. The race will be timed, but there will not be awards.

Peconic Pathfinders was formed to find the hidden, unmarked and lost paths and in the spirit of Dr. Robert Cushman Murphy, we support environmental conservation. In 1960 Dr. Murphy led a successful citizen initiative to establish the area as the first major natural park in the Suffolk County Park system. The 2,200-acre park was originally named the Peconic River County Park and renamed on what would have been his 100th birthday.   There are many paths, ponds and a river. The only marked trail today is the Pine Barrens Trail, AKA the Paumanok Path. Peconic Pathfinders has found the paths, cleaned them up and maintain them. We hope to be able to mark them soon. Depending on your status, now is the time to get back in shape or to get in better shape. There's not a lot of events going on in the winter. It's too wet and cold. Many of you travel to warmer climates in February. We now have many friends who live or travel to other parts of the country or other countries. We invite you to share with us on any of our Facebook groups. Tell your story and send photo's. Group photos are always fun.
