Virtual Events

We just closed out the 44th running of the Montauk Turkey Day Run Walk. We had to do it virtually this year, due to COVID. I missed seeing the crowds of friends and families that come out every year no matter what the weather.

Turkey trots have become quite a tradition over the years as Thanksgiving brings extended families together as siblings go away to college, move away and build new families. It’s fun to get out on Thanksgiving morning and see other friends and neighbors out celebrating.

Thanksgiving is not only a time for giving thanks, but also a time for giving to those less fortunate. Many Turkey Trots, Montauk included, are fundraisers for feeding the less fortunate. This year especially.

Thanks to the Long Beach Virtual Turkey Trot and other Turkey Trots on Long Island who have gone virtual in support of Food Pantries, Meals on Wheels and Soup Kitchens, not only locally, but across the nation.

Earlier this year we founded the Peconic Pathfinders supporting the creation of local pedestrian paths and trails for hiking, running and biking. Peconic Pathfinders supports community organizations locally and regionally on Long Island and in the Tri State area and our extended friends and family throughout the country.

2020 has not been a good year for anyone, anywhere in the world. Virtual events has helped us maintain and we have helped several existing events make it through the year and serve their communities. We’ve been encouraging running, walking and biking our recreational path in Calverton and are hiking our local parks and trails.

We look forward to putting this year behind us and look ahead to a more positive and healthy New Year with combined live and virtual events soon.
