In 1960 Dr. Murphy led a successful citizen initiative to establish the area as the first major natural park in the Suffolk County Park system. This April we dedicate our Earth Hikes to Dr. Robert Cushman Murphy with guided hikes in and through the Robert Cushman Murphy County Park.  April is Earth Month!
